"I've been able to see them ever since my first year here. They've always pulled the carriages. Don't worry. You're just as sane as I am."- Luna Lovegood

For my fellow Potterheads, you know the above drawing is of a Thestral, an exquisite winged horse that could only be seen by those who have seen death. Such haunting truth. Unlike anything else, experiencing death of a loved one just never gets easier, no matter how many times it happens. Once you've experienced death, you see the world so differently. Cliche as it is, it really puts things into perspective.

Don't take people for granted, they will not always be there. Why is that such a hard lesson to learn? Pick up the phone and call them, make plans if you really mean it, let them know that they're loved and not alone. These are small gestures but could mean a world of difference. In the end, knowing that they knew feels so much better than hoping that they knew.

Uncle Ant, family dinners will not be the same without you, your camera and your funny ways. I can't thank you enough for all the laughs, great memories and camping trips that I still tell my friends about to this day.

My dearest Uncle Ant, I love you and I'll always miss you. ♥

Feast Your Eyes: Leopald's

It's the return of FYE! As I always say, please don't worry about me starving myself-- that will never happen. It's just that I've been really trying to eat clean and whenever I find a chance to eat out, I tend to devour it before I get a chance to snap a pic. Yikes!

Fear not, I've been a much better blogger lately and have been frivolously snapping away great pics for you guys.

A few weeks ago, the gang and I dined at Leopald's, a charming little German spot. We had an abundance of weiners, beer and sauerkraut. See for yourself!

Isn't the little piggy wooden block totally adorbs?!

Yums! And what's a German meal without some good 'ol Das Boot?

Happy Monday!

Just Doing Me

From the wild wild summer of yolo to the stress of a new job, somehow, I managed to survive.  Hands down, this summer has been one of the best summer EVER but all good things come to an end. It's time to simmer down and...

Somewhere along the line, I went a little out of control and stopped focusing on taking good care myself and doing things that I love. You know, taking care of my body, skin, going shopping, doing my own nails, etc. I know this may all sound a little superficial but trust that it's more about feeding my soul than my outwards appearance. Now that my job is no longer "new" and summer is not longer full of "yolo's",

I need to step up my game and learn to juggle fitness, work, fun and a little me-time.

Story of a Purse #NSale

In the spirit of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I'd like to share not only my picks but the story of how I fought for my Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip purse.

They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, throw a purse in the mix and boy you know you're in trouble.

The story goes like this, I ordered this lovely purse, in-store, during the pre-sale.

I was told to expect my purse to be delivered within the next 3-6 business days. Patiently, I waited. After two days without any shipping confirmation, I decided to hit up Nordies via live chat for the status. I was then told that my order was "stuck in the system" and would likely be canceled due to low inventory. What?! You mean to tell me that I won't be getting my hands on the purse I've been mentally pairing with every single outfit? Unacceptable! I was promised a purse and a purse I will get! So I did what every smart consumer would do. I went on Twitter and Facebook and expressed my disappointment. Within 5 hours, I received a call from the SF Center manager to let me know that she found me a purse. I must give credit where credit's due-- the Nordie's social team was on it! They responded within minutes and turned the whole situation from bad to fabulous.

Moral of the story? Social media is a consumer's best friend and Nordies really care about their customers!

In other news, here are the other things I picked up during the sale. The Anniversary sale is the one sale I look forward to every year, surely I get a pass for going a little overboard!

One Day in New York

I took a quick work trip to New York last month to shoot this little YouTube video. After watching this vid, you'll see why I am 100% against shooting vlogs. I'm just not natural in front of the camera!

I was given one day (more like 2/3 of a day) for myself, I made it my mission to explore as many places as possible. Here's a little photo journal of my one day in New York!

Started off my day with the metro from Wall Street. I old and smelly subway gave me a new-found appreciation for the much cleaner and newer Muni buses in SF. Our hotel was located in the financial district of NYC and I loved the feel off the windy streets buried in tall buildings. So different than our Fidi in SF!

We started the morning with scouting around the B&H Superstore (where we filmed the video), which is conveniently located by the largest Macy's in the world! Photo op! I didn't do much shopping there since we have plenty of Macy's in SF.

Afterwards, I jetted across town to Ippudo for a bowl of delicious ramen. I was initially really aware of my lunch for one status but luckily, the man sitting across from me was also there alone. We quickly became lunch buddies and chatted away.

After lunch, I strolled the streets of New York and I felt right at home with all the street talent and street fairs. I almost felt like everyone in NY was a tourist. It could be because I was around all the touristy places but where are all the locals?

My stroll eventually led me to Madison Square Garden where I played the creepy tourist who took photos of everything, including the dog park. Heh, if you couldn't tell, I got a little panaramic-hyper.

Selfie in the back of a crazy cab ride! I thought they say LA drivers couldn't drive, clearly, they haven't been in a NYC cab before. LA drives have nothing on craziness like NYC cabbies.

Soho was my next destination. I couldn't leave NY without setting foot into my favorite store, Lululemon! Soho was by far one of my favorite neighborhoods of NY. I loved the feeling of shopping right in between the giant buildings. Though I didn't find much that I wouldn't find in SF, it was still a fun experience.

Then, I  ventured over to the Met in the Upper East Side. I really wanted a photo of myself on the steps where Blair Waldorf and company held court but I was having trust issues with handing a stranger my phone. I was really afraid that they'd make a run for it, so these photos will have to suffice.

After that, I needed to tend to my growling stomach and ended up going to BaoHaus. Nom nom nom. I loved the bao fries with the sesame paste!

On the cab ride back to my hotel, I caught a photo of the gorgeous Manhattan bridge. The sight of the bridge is definitely impressive and breathtaking.  I really wish that I had enough time for a run across the bridge.

After a quick nap, I was at it again! Destination, Times Square, Rockafeller Center and Radio City.

Here's a photo from the shoot.

I only wish I got to visit Central Park and Grand Central Station but since we were filming at 8AM the next morning, I wanted to make sure that I had enough sleep. Somewhere in between jetting from neighborhood to neighborhood, I fit in tea time for one and getting my nails done.I couldn't have asked for a better trip.

I've always loved exploring on my own but exploring NYC all by myself was something else. I can't wait to go back with my wolf pack or Mr. Dubs.

Summer of Yolo

This summer, appropriately coined as The Summer of YOLO, is going to be epic. Bring it on!

Sephora Mini Haul

Sephora mini-haul! There has been some pretty good (and not so good) stuff that came out in the make up world lately. Here are a few things I've snagged up!

I have to be honest, I 'm not a fan. Aside from being used once or twice, the main functionality of this blush is to sit pretty on my vanity. The truth is, I purchased this blush after seeing it on instagram and it was purely for looks. If you're not in the market for something pretty for your vanity, then I'd say skip it.

I decided to go with the pressed version of this setting powder since I'm not a big fan of powder everywhere. This is a life changing product for me-- I use it once in the morning and I find that my skin stays nice and matte throughout the day. Farewell shiny and oily skin!

This is by far the best $60 I've ever spent. I literally use this everyday. I've never been much of a brown/neutral girls but oh how I've converted. In fact, when I went to Seattle, I only brought with me this palette! It saved me so much space in my luggage! The eye shadow brush that came with the palette is also one that I keep reaching to now. I'm even thinking of buying a back up of this palette just in case they discontinue it soon.

Skip skip skip skip skip! Hope I made my point there. I've always loved the mascara but the eyeliner is horrible. I tried it for one day but by the end of the day, it was all over my face. I, unwillingly, sported the panda eyes all day. Yuck. I was lured to this since it was on sale and the clutch was adorable but I had to bring it back. Not worth it at all.

I hope everyone is doing well. I know I haven't blogged in a long time but that's because I've got life going on! I"m in the middle of moving and transitioning into a new position at work. I've been working quite a bit of over time but I'm going to try to bring this blog back to life. I promise!

Thanks for sticking around everyone!

Eat My Pixie Dust

As you guys already know, two weeks ago, I secured another 1/2 marathon under my belt. What better place to terrorize yourself with 13.1 miles than the happiest place on earth? Aka Disneyland. It was by far the grandest of all races I've ever been a part of. They even had fireworks during the national anthem.

Here's a quick ootd for the race. I guess I didn't quite get he Tinkerbell green memo and decked myself out in pink instead!

And here's a peek at my NOTD for the festivities!

It was so nice to run inside Disneyland. They even had characters around for us to take photos with!

I took one with my homie, Cindy (Cinderella). She asked me if Mr. Dubs was my prince. :) and doesn't she look like Taylor Swift?!

Here we are we our medals. We came, we ran and we conquered!

All you need is faith, trust and a little pixie dust.

I'm starting to look a lot like a runner but nothing can take the cheerleader out of me.

Rah rah rah!!

In case you needed some running motivation... you're welcome!

Happy Thursday!
