Running Diaries

As you guys already know, I started my running career this year with a half marathon in April. Just to give you an idea of how obsessive I've become, here's what my running record will be by the time we hit April again.

April 2012- Half Marathon
September 2012- 10K
January 2013- Half Marathon
March 2013- Full Marathon (yes! I've registered for my first full marathon!)

That's 58.5 miles in organized runs alone-- not counting my training of course. That's probably about 53 more miles than last year and possibly more miles than I've ever ran collectively in my entire life. I'm not kidding, I was definitely more of a dancer than a runner.

Training for run sucks but the adrenaline and the goodies on race day makes it worth it. Not to mention that it's a good push to get in shape!

Here's my bib, bobble head and t-shirt for the Giants 10K.

Mr. Dubs and I wanted to make sure we had the perfect pre-race day meal, so we headed to Joe's Crab Shack and devoured this....

And this...

Ok so maybe the truth is that it probably wasn't the best meal for before the race but it was delicious and worth the chance of an upset stomach for 6.1 miles!

I also went to my local apple store and picked up this cutie! I was hoping that these older models of iPod nanos would go on sale since they came out with new ones but I was so wrong. Apparently all the runners in the world had the same idea since the new iPods don't sport a clip because they were all sold out except for the pink. Lucky for me, that is obviously the only color I have eyes for.

After the race, Mr. Dubs rewarded me with the Lululemon vinyasa scarf in this gorgeous purple. I literally walked in still with my bib and running clothes. I've been wearing the hell out of this scarf but still haven't been adventurous enough to try it in different ways yet.

I saw this on someone's IG (@tiffabulously) and thought it was post worthy and very true.

It's crazy how running became such a big part of my life. I find myself craving for a run every now and then. I have a really hard time finding good music to run to so I'd like to sign off with my top 5 running songs as well as my mile 13/26 power song.

Most of it is pretty self explanatory as far as why it may be on my playlist but I always include something that is a little slower like Drops of Jupiter to keep my musica interesting.

The reason why this song is my mile 13/26 song is because this is considered by many to be my song with Mr. Dubs. Lol. It came on at mile 12 at the half marathon and since then, I always get a great energy rush whenever it comes on while I'm running.

I'd love to know what songs you run/work out to!

50 Shades of Gray

So I'm sure by now you've all heard of the set of books deemed "mommy porn" known as the 50 Shades Trilogy. Out of curiosity, I read Fifty Shades of Grey a few months back but since I didn't particularly like it, I didn't read the following two until this week-- since I was sick in bed.

Why I decided to crack into the other two books was entirely because of my curiosity. And you know what? Curiosity killed the cat, and my time.

Here's why I wish I didn't waste my time.

First of all, everything just got really repetitive. I get it E. L. James. Christian is über good looking and he drives Anastasia wild. Did you really have to emphasize the fact that he ran his hand through his hair 200+ times and she bites her lip at any given chance? It's a wonder he didn't go bald by the end of book three.

Midway through the trilogy, I found myself skimming past the sex scenes. While the first couple of their kinky fuckery was quite hot, it just got too repetitive. It was the same thing... they fight, they do it, he tells her she's his and that he needs he and his eyes smolders. I need something more than that to keep me hot and bothered.

The biggest reason, though, is that I didn't love Anastasia or Christian. I didn't like it that it promotes the idea that you(or a relationship) can change a person completely-- I just don't believe it that. Offer guidance and motivation? Perhaps. But old habits die hard and I'm not convinced that a person can change so drastically in such a short time frame.

To be utterly honest, I had a hard time buying the Christian Grey character altogether. I know I'm constantly reminded by words that he is irresistible but I'm not charmed-- starting from his initial description of having copper colored hair.

With all said and done, it doesn't mean that I'm not excited to see the red room of pain come alive on the big screen. But who is my dream cast?

Well of course there is the Twilight threesome. The inspiration-- perfect Christian/Anastasia/Jose cast. Perfect they may be but I'd like to see fresh faces fill those shoes... errr or butt plugs. :x

Chuck Bass as our Dom, the gorgeous Blair as Anastasia and Serena as Katherine. That can work. Too bad it sounds like a Gossip Girl story line already!

So my final pick...

Chris Pine as Christian. Drools. Oh fifty...

Alexis Bledel as Anastasia. Come on, she's dead on. Brown hair, blue eyes and gorgeous skin.

Blake Lively (or Reynolds.. so jealous!) as Katherine. Can't think of anyone better.

And Kim Catrall or Charlize Theron as Mrs. Robinson. Meow.

Who do you have in mind for the movie and what are your thoughts on the books? I can't wait to watch the sexual escapades on the big screen (maybe not ready for 3D though) 😔

Tea & Crumpets

I've never been one to blend well during transitional stages of seasons-- I get massive allergy attacks. Although I love the hint of fall in September, I usually spend the month holding onto balled up Kleenex (gross I know) and with nose as red as Rudolph's. (a-choooo)

I'm so sad to bid farewell to summer but giving an ever so warm welcome to boots, scarves and coats. Not so soon though, San Francisco will have one glorious week of weather up to the high 70's or even low 80's and then the rain will roll in.

To celebrate the changing season, the lovely Kathleen and I enjoyed a tea session at a local tea house. (fine, it has less to do with the changing season and more to do
with her birthday in August) Tea time always makes me feel so happy and carefree!

"Love and scandal are the best sweeteners of tea." ~ Henry Fielding

Lol. Sums up our tea time quite well.

To continue with my tea frenzy, I found these whole wheat crumpets at my local Trader Joe's. While it's not as good as the buttery crumpets I've had at tea houses, I must say that this serve as a pretty filling healthy breakfast option. Here I am using smucker's grape jelly but usually I pair it with a bit of peanut butter and bananas.

I also found these Sperry's at Nordstrom Rack! I've been trying to find a purrfect pair for some time now but they either make my feet look weird or they put an additional 30 years on me. I love the touch of leopard and patent leather on these. It's a shame that summer is coming to an end and I probably won't get to use them as much as I'd like to.

And just to let you guys know, I found time blogging because I'm on the train heading home from work because I'm so sick. I need some tea.

Le sigh. Someone wake me up when September ends..
