Julep Sequin Clutch Mystery Box

Hi everyone!

I've seen Julep around at Sephora and I always hear good things about them but unfortunately I haven't given them a try just yet. I always get very close subscribing to their Maven monthly boxes but never goes through with it just because I can't stand the thought of paying so much for nail polish-- I get my Essie and OPI's for $4-5 at my local nail supply store!

Anyways, so I finally caved in and placed an order. When I saw that they were offering this sparkly clutch with "mystery goodies", I knew I had to have it. I've seen the almost identical Zara clutch flooding blogs last year-- so I had to have this small sequin version!

This is how my goodies arrived.

Such cute packaging and I felt like for $29.99, I definitely got my money's worth!

Here's a closer look at my clutch. I love the leopard interior and the two inner pockets. The clutch is super padded and it fits my ipad mini perfectly.

I was a little underwhelmed by the nail polish selection that came with it. By this time into the holiday season, I've already purchased quite a few reds, greens and golds. I was kinda hoping for something a little different. I haven't had a chance to do my nails to check out the polishes itself but I'm expecting to love the quality of it.

The package also came with these little glitter pots, hand and face cream and nail polish remover pads.

The glitter pots are very typical glitter-- nothing to rave about.

I'm excited to try the polish removing pads. I love getting them from CVS but they come out to be so expensive per use.

Overall, I'm really pleased with my box. I can't wait to test out the polishes and use my sparkle clutch.

I will update you guys with NOTD once I test out the polishes.

Christmas is less than a week away and I feel like I'm not ready yet! How did the whole holiday season fly by so quickly?!

Holiday Shopping 101

I know I may sound a little anal but every year, I make it a point to finish all my Christmas shopping by the 15th. I've had too many run-ins with things running out of stock or sizes.

In recent years, I've predominantly done my shopping online-- not only do I get to beat the crowd but I can use ebates for my cash back and there's usually free shipping involved anyways!

I just thought I'd share with you all a shopping tip that I almost learned the hard way today. I was greeted this morning by a wonderful email from Banana Republic saying that they are having a 30% off promo code sale. (Use code BR30LIST good till 12/16) It was a sign that I needed to finish up my shopping today since one of my final gift to be purchased is from BR.

I get on the site and thought "Sweet! What I need is in available!". Not thinking much, I took my sweet time-- maybe a whooping 10 minutes-- to get my credit card, ebates and coupon codeready and by the time I hit "add to cart" it was sold out!!! I kept trying to add it into my cart and it kept giving me this sorry error message about it being sold out just now. I seriously clicked like a mad woman for a good 10 minutes in disbelief.

Luckily, I noticed that I had added it into my basket already but just didn't realize it. So moral of the story-- if you see something you like, snatch it up immediately!! You just don't know when it will be sold out.

Hope everyone is on track with their holiday shopping!

Orange You Glad You Came?

Parade time! When the Giants won the World Series in 2010, I missed out on the parade because of work. This time around, I didn't let work stand in my way. The early bird gets the worm-- trust that I requested time off ASAP!

Warning: Long post with tons of pictures!

The gang and I posted in front of my office-- literally at the door steps of the entrance of my building-- to watch the parade. I wish I could say that the parade was awesome but unfortunately, my short self couldn't see past the tops of other peoples' heads. Even though I couldn't see the actual parade, I could still feel the pride and love for the city. It was an amazing atmosphere--one million fans from all over the Bay Area gathered on the 1.7 mile route to cheer and celebrate their team. Truly a great day to be a San Franciscan and a Giants fan.

Here's my attempt to show you all the people behind me but my big head blocked everyone else. -_- In a moment of vanity-- I would like to point out that since I started using Tatcha, my skin became flawless and silky smooth. Now I just need a good eye cream to get rid of those bags!

The girls!

The boys!

Look at the people behind me!!!

Black and orange everywhere!

We continued our day of celebration with many adventures-- including running the streets of Chinatown, posting at a lobby of a hotel and Denise taking a sweet nap. However, as you should know by now, all good adventures have hardcore food porn. I didn't catch all the food we indulged in but here are some photos to get your tummy grumbling!

Oystaaaah's!

And some champagne sangria! Isn't it cute how they mix it at your table?

Lastly, here's my Hello Kitty 2010 shirt and baseball NOTD. Time for a new shirt that says 2012!!

Can't seem to say this enough-- I love love love SF!

NOTD x 3

I've been slacking so much with my blogging lately. But I have some good stuff coming... I promise!

Here's three NOTD I rocked recently.

This one is by far my favorite NOTD ever-- pink&gold leopard print and heart. Nothing screens me more than this.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

San Francisco is going crazy!!!

I Love the City

I don't know how many times I've professed my love for the city. Please don't be mistaken, by the city, I'm referring only to the city of San Francisco.

I know I complain about the cold weather and the fog but that alone is not enough to persuade me otherwise. Sure, we're not as fashionable or sunny as LA and people are far less sophisticated and buzzling than NYC but look, SF is the charming hippy step sibling that people tend to underestimate as a serious contender as one of the greatest city in the US-- if not the world.

Don't believe me? Here's just a few reasons from my recent outings.

1. Fleet Week

Every year morale runs high as men and women in US Navy uniform invades our gorgeous city for a week. The festivities all lead up to a fantastic air show put on by the Blue Angels.

I usually steer clear of these crowd packed events but this year, Mr. Dubs and I went to check it out. I have to admit, it was pretty badass!

2. Second reason to love SF? It's just a gorgeous city all around. I wish I had better photos but unfortunately, this is all I have. Even with my crappy photos, you cannot deny how beautiful the city is.

3. The San Francisco Giants

'Nuff said. We're in the World Series, again, after winning in 2010. The entire city is buzzling orange and on game days-- it almost feels like everyone stops what they're doing to watch the game.

Even kitty-chan is sporting orange.

Miss Beebs (our orange mascot)

Camwhoring with my t-shirt from the Giants run.

Let's paint this town orange!

Tatcha Skincare Review

I first heard of the geisha inspired skin care line, Tatcha, from one of my favorite bloggers, Feather Feather. The idea of sharing beauty secrets with geishas had me intrigued and it was this picture of a barefaced geisha that had me sold.

I would sell my soul to the devil for skin as flawless as hers.

I came close to purchasing the trial kit a few times but I resisted each time. The kit is very reasonably priced -- for $49 you get to sample the entire regimen but I was afraid I'd fall in love and end up splurging on the full size line. Well if there's one good thing out of this experience-- I'd say that I clearly know myself very well-- I'm in love. More of that later.

Here's what arrived. I was impressed with the gorgeous packaging and the fact that it arrived next day. (Free shipping too!)

The sample kit included (taken directly from their site):

6 trial-sized essentials + beauty papers:

- PURE Camellia One Step Cleansing Oil - 15ml | 0.5oz
- POLISHED Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- POLISHED Classic Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- POLISHED Deep Rice Enzyme Powder - 3 x 1g packets
- RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum - 15ml | 0.5oz
- SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream - 10ml | 0.3oz
+PETAL FRESH Original Japanese Beauty Papers - 1 full sized pack | 30 sheets

It's been four days since I've started and I'm definitely loving it. My skin feels soft , supple and there is a visibly noticeable change to my face. Overall, my face looks brighter and smoother.

Here are my pros and cons:

Pro's

- My skin feels refreshed after the wash as opposed to the dryness and tightness that I've experienced with other brands

- Everything is unsecented. It's not that I don't enjoy nice smelling creams, it's just that so often they end up smelling like old people or really frou frou.

- I was super impressed with receiving my package the following day with a handwritten note and a coupon code. Tatcha is obviously extremely customer-centric which makes me feel slightly better about forking out the big bucks.

- My skin is showing visible improvements already and it's only been 2 days! Even Mr. Dubs commented on how my skin seems to glow.

Cons's

- It's going to cost me an arm and a leg

I don't think I need the entire regimen to maximize the results. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I will skip repurchasing the skin oil and the moisturizer but will definitely repurchase the enzyme face polish and brightening serum.

You can get Tatcha products either at Barney's or directly from the Tatcha website.
