A Very Hello Kitty Birthday

Well, a very Hello Kitty belated birthday that is to my dearest bui jeah (cousin) of all time, Miss Entrepreneur herself, Tabitha! She's the closest thing I have to a sister and definitely my best friend from the start. Some people wonder where I get my craziness from and if you ever meet her, you'll know. The fast paced, loud conversations we have are not for the weak souled or the tender eared. I grew up copying everything about her (literally) and even though I've grown up and out of it (luckily) I still admire her dearly and am still learning from her all the time! Happy birthday bui bui!

For her birthday, I gifted her with plenty of Hello Kitty goodies since Hello Kitty is both of  our favorites!

I especially ordered these yuummmmy cake pops for her. They turned out so cute and delicious! The Hello Kitty ones are chocolate chip cookie dough while the bows were red velvet. We both agreed that the chocolate chip cookie dough was more delicious but both are equally cute!

In case you're wondering where I found these adorable cake pops, here is the creator's information!

There's no address to the place because they actually do it out of their own apartment. I believe they do ship so for all you non-San Franciscans you are not out of luck!

Happy birthday again, Tab and I can't wait to celebrate many more to come!
xoxo (maybe)

Hello Pretty

Just wanted to show everyone my new car air freshner that I got for $4.99 at Sanrio! It's normally $12.99 but since I made a purchase of $60+ I got it for a steal.

Hello Kitty is sitting pretty in my foxy and she smells very peachy!

Word Vomit

Warning: This post is a serious rant and may put you in a bad mood upon reading.

It makes me so upset when someone stereotypes me as an airhead, bimbo or pretty face. My boss always says to me "wow Tiff, looks like you're not just a pretty face". WTF? He thinks it's a joke but there isn't an ounce of funny in that statement. In fact, it is highly offensive to any woman with a dash of dignity. Why did he hire me in the first place if he initially only had superficial expectations from me? What does that say about him as a boss/hiring manager?

I feel like this has been an issue I've been fighting for most of my life. Sure, I like my hair big, I laugh often and I'm always made up but what part of that automatically wins me the title of being stupid? I have always and will continue to be be fully competent and capable of doing things, making money and taking care of myself. In fact, in all of my work experiences, I've always proven to be bright and a quick learner. I refuse to play down my looks, hair and make up just for people to stop judging me by my cover and I will never dumb myself down to meet their expectations. In a way I guess it's in my benefit because I know I will always surpass and excel beyond those expectations.

And now, here's a picture of me...

If you want to call me a pretty face, sure I'll take that. Just keep those pre-descending and condescending words to yourself.

Five Years On Me

Five years later and practically still exactly the same!

Feast Your Eyes: Bella Trattoria

For my friend Aimee's birthday I decided to take her to Bella Trattoria for dinner. I've been to Bella one other time before and was completely impressed by the quality of their home made pastas and even more impressed by their panna cotta! This tiny little restaurant is such a hidden gem!

Bella Trattoria

San Francisco, CA 94118

I usually try to steer away from bread at restaurants to save room in the stomach for the main meal but I couldn't have enough of the super fresh bread and the olive oil with a dash of sundried tomato!

Judging by their raving reviews on Yelp, Bella has quite a reputation for giving away freebies and at both experiences our server brought this complimentary appetizer to us. I can't remember what it is and I probably would never go and order it but nonetheless, it's a sweet gesture!

As far as appetizers, we ordered the bruschetta, meatballs and carpaccio. I loved the bruschetta and meatballs but didn't really care for the carpaccio at all.The bruschetta tasted so fresh and I love mozzarella!

As far as entrees, we decided to go family style with the gnocchi, rigatoni and trout. I'm usually not too much of a fan of gnocchi but absolutely loved this one. It seriously tasted so soft and chewy almost like a little mochi!

The trout was a perfect light touch to our heavy and flavorful pasta. I don't know how I would've felt had the trout been my own main entree but it definitely worked with our other dishes!

The hi-light of my meal (both times) was definitely the panna cotta! I've had many strawberry panna cottas but never really cared for them until I've had it at Bella. It was so smooth and flavorful without that artificial sweet taste to it! The strawberrise also tasted really fresh too. I know it doesn't look too impressive in the picture but it was heavenly tasting!

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Lucky

I saw this on my friend's Facebook and couldn't help but repost it!

"Lucky is the girl who has a boy who doesn't need reasons to make her happy but just does."

Love you, Mr. W.

Real ladies wear....

....tutus of course! It's that time again where I'm spending way too much time making tutus! This time I'm making a tutu with the color scheme of pink, purple with a side of.... You guessed it! Pink! I rarely venture out of my normal pink and purple palette and that's pretty much true for everything I own!

Here are some snippets of my tutu making session with Eva Diva with a small cameo from her baby Happy!

True story, I almost lost my newly made tutu to Happy!

Can't wait to snap some pics of our (me and Eva) outfits for you!

Stay tuned!

Power of Make Up

Inspired by the lovely shout out from
Miss Lily (as seen here), I've decided to show everyone my before and after pics of my brows. It's seriously like night and day so be prepared!

I know.. It's kinda nuts huh? And this photo was taken after a long day at work too! I'll try to snap a picture of my brows tomorrow after I draw them in!

Feast Your Eyes: Wooly Pig Cafe

As a Sunday tradition, Mr. W. and I nurse our hangovers by ordering good take up and staying in Ed until we absolutely must get up! The Wooly Pig Cafe has been in my bookmarks for quite some time now and I'm glad to get it crossed off my list!

The Wooly Pig Cafe
205 Hugo St
San Francisco, CA 94122

Everything we had was so deliciously fresh. While $6 for a dinky Vietnamese sandwich is quite steep, I have to say that every penny was well spent. From the bread to the house sauce on the banh mi, everything was of highest quaility-- it's almost unfair to categorize it with your typical Viet sandwiches!

Everything in the cafe had the wooly pig mascot and it was so adorable! I'd be lying if I say that I wasn't initially attracted to the place solely because of the cute name and mascot! I originally wanted to try their praised Shitake mushroom chowder but since they ran out, I decided to give Mr. W. a little Leigh-style waffle treat. D-licious with a capitol D!

We couldn't help it but give their lychee black tea and blackberry lemonade a try as well. The lychee black tea was a bit of a disappointment. It was unsweetened and the lychee shaped ice cubes had me fooled! I thought they were so generous with the lychee pieces but they were only ice cubes!

The two sammies we got were heavenly! The banh mi was perfectly crispy with a house sauce that is tangy with a hint of spicy. It definitely justified the hefty Viet sandwich price tag! Mr. W. had the Wooly Pig Cafe special which is a pork belly sandwich. I'm not usually a big fan of pork belly but this pork belly sandwich got my taste buds singing! The was so tender and juicy in a soft soft hamburger-like bun.

They have a small but all-star menu! I can't wait to go back to try their other items!

Hope everyone is having a good week! I started the week off with terrible flu-like symptoms but now I'm in much better shape!

What's in her purse?

I'm here today to answer the age old question of  "what's in her purse?"-- well, at least I can answer what's in my purse! Who knows why there is such a fascination with what's in a women's purse but I myself guilty of wondering sometimes!

Before I let you guys peek in my purse, I just want to introduce you to the newest edition to my purse collection-- my Marc by Marc Jacobs Turnlock Jacquetta Crossbody Bag. Quite a long name for such a small bag. I found this little baby in Loehmann's while in Socal over Labor Day weekend and bought it at such a steal price! I've seen this bag about two years ago in hot pink and loved the shape of it but never got around to buying it. I'm not too keen on paying full price for items that I know can or will go on sale. I was initially concerned about the light pink leather but decided to give in since the price was definitely right!

Let's look at some numbers:
Retail price: $398
Loehmann's price: $259
What I paid: $251.91

I love it when I find discounts at discounted stores!!

Pink is my black so naturally, a light pink bag can easily be my every day go-to bag! Don't judge this bag by it's looks, it can actually fit quite a bit. At one point this week, I had two bottles of water and a cardigan in it! However, I've learned my lesson about stuffing my bag to it's limits and have since opted to carry fewer things in my purse!

Buying this Le Sport Sac zippered pouch is one of the best $15 I've ever spent! It keeps my bag so organized and I know exactly where everything is. Take a look at what I keep in my handy dandy make up bag!

The top (and biggest) pouch is where I keep all my emergency make up. I'm not a big fan of touching up my make up during the day-- I don't usually have a problem with my face melting off so all this make up is mainly for those days where I spontaneously decide to go out after work and don't look going-out ready!

1. Hello Kitty short handled shadow brush
2. My favorite Dior eye liner brush
3. Milani Liquif'Eye eyeliner in black
4. Anastasia Brow Pencil
5. Mac shadow in Black Tied
6.BareMinerals Mineral Veil
7/ L'Occitane Hand Cream-- truly worth every dime! Best hand cream I've ever tried!

My middle pouch is my "medicine cabinet"! My purse is slowly looking like a mommy purse since Mr. Dubs is always injuring himself!

1. Blink rewetting drops & Allaway alergy drops
2. Band-aids and neosporin
3. Spare contacts
4. Blotting paper

And lastly, the bottom pouch is least exciting. It only holds two pens. Womp womp womp!

Hope you guys enjoyed my "What's in her bag" post. I enjoyed making this post and I always have a good time reading what's in other people's purses! (maybe I'm just a tad nosey)

Hope everyone is prepared for another fantastic weekend! As usual, I'll try to update as much as possible!

Step Up!

In case you haven't heard-- Blogger finally came out with their own app! Unfortunately it's not quite as blogger friendly as blogger+ in terms of adding pictures and post formatting yet! Hopefully they'll be able to tweak and improve the app soon. Till then I'll still be blogging from my trusty blogger+ while anxiously awaiting for an update from Blogger!

P.S. I had to submit this post with blogger+ because the Blogger app just isn't working for me!

New hurr! Dark brown plus bangs courtesy of miss Tessa! No one cuts my bangs as perfectly as she does!

Feast Your Eyes: Crown and Crumpet

Growing up, my mum never stressed the importance of learning how to cook, clean or do my laundry. In fact, my earliest memories with my mum involves manicures, hair straightening and tea time. Back when we used to live in Hong Kong, our tea destination of choice was the swanky Conrad Hotel and since we've moved back to San Francisco, the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus served as our high tea spot. It seems like as of late, the bay area has been hit with the high tea bug and it came dressed in pink with a tiara! A couple of weeks ago, Karleen, Ari and myself decided to have tea time at Crown and Crumpet. The name alone had me sold!

Ok ok.. so the picture whore in me can't help but snap a photo of my made up face for the day!

Ladies who lunch
Every detail in the restaurant was adorned with pink crowns. It was totally adorable and made me feel like a little kid playing tea time!

Check out our tea food after the jump!
