Big Hair? Don't Care!

The only good thing out of bad weather is how my unruly hair miraculously learns how to behave!

Once, I told a good friend of mine that I was contemplating if I should chop my lioness mane off and she promptly told me that "chopping my hair off is like killing my soul". Apparently, I am my hair; without my hair I am simply a lost soul.

It's funny because for the most part of my life, I literally would spend an hour (or more) a day straightening my hair. True story. I even forked out $300 to do the Japanese hair straightening. It just wasn't fair! I got all the other typical Asian features-- short, boyish figure, chinky eyes-- so why did I not inherit the silky black hair?

Luckily for me, I learned the scrunching trick in my college years. Basically, I would scrunch my unruly hair into pretty beach waves.

This is my miracle worker! The trick is to scrunch your hair with this mousse after it's been air dried. Don't try to do it on soaking wet hair and dry hair doesn't curl as nicely!

Ta-Dah!

If you're looking to spend some serious money on hair products, I highly recommend the following:

Seriously, this is like hair crack! You can probably skip the shampoo but definitely check out the conditioner. It turns my nappy hair silky smooth! This pink "luxury conditioner" is slightly more expensive than the rest of the line, but it's way more effective!

Time for me to go now but I will leave you with my favorite hair quote from the movie, Mean Girls!
Janis: That little one, that's Gretchen Wieners.
Damian: She's totally rich because her dad invented Toaster Streudels.
Janis: Gretchen Wieners knows everybody's business, she knows everything about everyone.
Damian: That's why her hair is so big, it's full of secrets.

NOTD: Minty Delight!

About six months ago, I discovered the world of soak off gel nail polishes. I've been hooked ever since! I'll probably even name it my best find of 2010. Here's why-- it never chips. Those of you who knows me on a personal basis know how much I loathe fug chipped nails!

True, you have to go to a salon to get it done and back to get it soaked off (unless you choose to peel them off painfully) but honestly $20 for two (or more) weeks of unchipped, shiny nails is not much to ask for. Best thing is, you don't have to worry about waiting for the polish to dry-- once it's ready, you're good to go!

The brand in particular that my salon carries is Gelish but there are a couple of other brands like Shellac. I'm not sure about their differences (if any) but I'm pretty satisfied with my Gelish manis. I've tried several colors but I can't seem to get enough of the sparkles! I love my nail lady, Bee, who is also a glitter enthusiast. Not only does she always encourage glitter nails but never fails to end my manicure with a "beaaautiful"!

Here's a pic of my nails the day after I got them done. Sparkle sparkle!

Here it is a week and a half later. Not much has changed; no chips or dullness. Only noticeable change is the nails growing out.

Definitely go to your nearest salon and give your nails a makeover! My nail color is making me crave for some mint ice cream with sprinkles on this cold and rainy San Francisco night.. Hmmmmm...
